Kraft Lawrence is a twenty-five-year-old wandering trader dreaming of saving money to equip his own shop. For seven years now he has been traveling from city to city, gaining experience in trade.
One day he meets a pagan deity—a she-wolf, Horo—whose age is measured in centuries. She looks like a girl with wolf ears and a tail, and introduces herself as a patron deity of the harvest. Horo has spent many years in the village of Pasro, but progress doesn’t stand still, and local residents have stopped needing her protection.
So the she-wolf decides to return to her homeland, and Lawrence “agrees” to escort her north.
