Taylor Ebert is an ordinary girl who isn’t popular at school, but she has a secret: she has a superpower. As it turns out, she isn’t the only one with such a secret—there are plenty of people in the world, and they’re typically divided into heroes and villains, as well as neutral loners. Costumes, masks, nicknames instead of names, unwritten rules, politics, and dirty tricks are all part of the package.
On one of Taylor’s first outings in costume, she’s mistakenly taken for a villain, throwing her into a world of constant conflict between good and evil—where villains can engage in socially useful work and saving the world, while heroes aren’t always as pure as they want to look. All Taylor can count on are new friends, a clear head, and an unusual superpower that allows her to control insects.
