Taylor Ebert is an ordinary girl who isn’t popular at school—yet she has a secret: she possesses a superpower. Of course, in a world like this, it’s not only she who has such a secret (and for some, it’s not even a secret at all). There are many people, typically divided into heroes and villains, as well as neutral lone-wolves. Costumes, masks, nicknames instead of names, unwritten rules, politics, and dirty tricks come standard. During one of Taylor’s early outings in costume, she’s mistakenly taken for a villain—and that throws her into a world of constant confrontation between good and evil, where villains may engage in socially useful activities and saving the world, while heroes aren’t always as pure as they want to seem. What Taylor can count on is new friends, a clear head, and an unusual superpower that allows her to control insects.
