Taylor Ebert is an ordinary girl who isn’t popular at school—but she has a secret: she has a superpower. Still, she isn’t the only one in the world with such a secret (and for some people, it isn’t a secret at all): lots of others are divided into heroes and villains, as well as neutral loners. Suits, masks, nicknames instead of real names, unspoken rules, politics, and dirty tactics are all part of it. In one of her early outings in costume, Taylor is mistaken for a villain, throwing her into a world of constant conflict between good and evil, where villains sometimes do socially useful things and even save the world, while heroes aren’t always as pure as they want to seem. All Taylor can rely on is new friends, a steady head, and her unusual superpower that allows her to control insects.
