Rincewind’s meeting with Twoflower earlier ended with Twoflower departing for the Counterweight Continent—back home, to the Agate Empire. But in this book, due to events taking place in the Agate Empire, Rincewind is sent there (not of his own will). And so is Cohen the Barbarian and his Silver Horde (these events precede what’s described in “The Last Hero”). So everything needed for surprising, funny, and heroic—well recognizable by a modern reader (listener)—events to begin in the Agate Empire has been done, and they indeed started.
