The main hero has caught a fatal infection, and according to doctors, he has only a couple of months to live. He spends all his savings on a virtual reality capsule and decides to spend his remaining days in a fully immersive game, where he registers under the nickname Card. There, the hero chooses a new, barely studied class—“Phantom.” Accidentally, Card launches a chain of quests that leads him to a hidden location, and then to participation in events of truly all-game proportions.
In the fifth book, the hero’s and his team’s adventures continue. There’s no electricity anywhere anymore—except in the main building of the game developers. And the source of energy generation is those who went into the game never to return. Card plans to pit two opposing forces—people and androids—against each other in a large-scale battle.
