The main hero has contracted a fatal infection, and according to doctors, he has only a couple of months to live. He spends all his savings on a virtual reality capsule and decides to spend his remaining days in full-immersion gaming, where he registers under the nickname Card. There, the hero chooses a new, little-studied class—“Phantom.”
By accident, Card triggers a chain of quests that leads him to a hidden location. There’s no way to complete it alone—so he must choose the right allies, and that isn’t so easy.
The hero’s incurable illness didn’t make him angry. Card is very kind and responsive; in the game he tries to help everyone who needs support. That attracts like-minded people, but it also earns him deadly enemies.
In the third book, Card’s story continues. A plan has been made and all forces have been mobilized. The truce hours are about to run out, and an uncompromising fight for the city will begin. Card and his clan intend to win it, but for that, among other things, they must carry out a purge within their ranks—identifying traitors. Details are in the audiobook.
