A beginner actor was incredibly lucky to land a supporting, but very important role of Grand Duke Georgy Alexandrovich Romanov in a series about the youth of Nicholas II. The last evening in his hometown was supposed to be the beginning of a new life—life as a film star of all-Russian scale—but the universe had other plans: our hero came to on the cruiser “Memory of Azov” in the middle of Tsarevich Nicholas’s Eastern voyage. He woke up in the body of the person he was supposed to play in the series.
Talk about “getting into the role” in the literal sense!
P.S. You won’t find truly authentic speeches from the end of the 19th century here, but I try to give the story color.
