The aspiring actor was incredibly lucky to land a minor but very important role of Grand Duke Georgy Alexandrovich Romanov in a series about the youth of Nicholas II. The last evening in his hometown was supposed to be the beginning of a new life—the life of a cinema star of all-Russian scale—but the universe had other plans: our hero woke up on the cruiser “Memory of Azov” in the middle of the Tsarevich Nikolai’s Eastern voyage. Woke up in the body of the person he was supposed to play in the series. If that isn’t “getting into the role” in the literal sense! P.S. You won’t find truly authentic speeches of the characters from the end of the 19th century here, but I try to give them color.
