The air is filled with the scent of pine, and all around is July taiga. I’m a gamekeeper and I know these places by heart—I go out hunting wild boar. But suddenly— a shot rings out, a flash, and everything falls away into darkness. I come to and realize: I’m seventeen again. And now my name is Max.
I find myself in the frail body of a sickly young man whom everyone in the village avoids. On my palms are red tattoos of a beast hunter. I’m faced with the task of catching my first pet, surviving, supporting my family, and somehow getting settled in this crazy world.
A world where people huddle behind unreliable walls, clinging to life with the last of their strength, and in the forests magical creatures roam. I will become a Beast Hunter and make use of everything I know. With my experience and the “Beast Code,” it will be easier than it seems. After all, the forest is the same everywhere—one only needs to know how to read it. And I read the forest better than anyone.
