The air is filled with the scent of pine, and all around is the July taiga. I am a game warden—I know these places by heart—and I go out to hunt the boar. But suddenly—there’s a shot, a flash, and darkness.
I come to as a seventeen-year-old boy named Max.
Now I’m trapped in a frail body as a sickly teenager whom even the neighbors avoid. And on my hands are crimson tattoos of a beast hunter.
I have to catch my first “pet,” survive, and pull my family through. I must get used to the insane rules of the new world—a world where people huddle behind flimsy walls, clinging to life, while magical creatures roam the forests.
I will become the Beast Handler (Zverolov) and put all my past experience to use.
With my skills and the “Beast Code,” this will be well within my power. The forest is the same everywhere—it only needs to be understood. And I can read it better than anyone.
