Leo Sukhov is the pen name of a Russian science-fiction writer. With the LitRPG cycle “Victims of Greed,” the author made it into the top three finalists of the literary contest “New Threshold,” run by us together with Magic Dome Books on the Author.Today portal. A feature of this cycle is that it’s written with no small share of humor. Here, in an audio format, we present the fifth book of this cycle.
The main hero, Filia, is one of thousands who agreed—for a large cash reward—to take part in the game and plunge into a virtual world. Development there has to start almost from scratch: you have to gather food and build huts the way our distant ancestors did. For success, it’s of course reasonable to unite into groups—which is what happens. But not always resource distribution is based on fairness, because not everyone behaves honestly.
The war of everyone against everyone ends with an unexpected truce—to unite people against a common external threat. In the location, there appear aliens—dolognisites. They can take any, even the most attractive form, to lure a victim in, and then a cruel end awaits them. The hero thinks about what to arm himself with against them, but the main weapon becomes an unexpected offer from the artificial intelligence that runs the game. Want details? Listen!
