The Last of the Blau Clan

Taiya Ri is the pen name of a writer working in the genre of heroic fantasy, who gained popularity thanks to the book cycle “Thunder Hunting.” The series has a tilt toward Asian fantasy; the events described in it take place in a world resembling ancient China.

The heroine of the novel, Vaiyu Blaw, is given a chance to change her life and the fate of her clan. Right now she is the last surviving member of her family—she is in prison and awaiting execution. But ten of her ancestors are ready to deprive themselves of the afterlife in the spirit world for a chance to set the clan’s fate right. And so Blaw—again, as a small girl—ends up in a dark cave, bitten by scorpions. Her task is to survive, become strong, and not only prevent the clan’s decline, but also make it more resilient and numerous. These are the terms of the contract.

Developing her magical abilities, Blaw increasingly feels the presence of another personality within her—stronger, but by no means bright. It scares her, but it doesn’t stop the heroine, because she needs these powers so badly to participate in the tournament and stand against the dark creatures breaking into our world. However, sooner or later Blaw will have to look within herself and make a decision…
