The Doomed Family

In a noble family Darnay, there are big problems. Every man of the family in the seventh generation commits suicide while at the height of his strength and with no visible cause. Perhaps it is all due to an old portrait with a strange inscription telling of the fate of the Darnay family. But Father Brown does not believe in hereditary curses or paintings coming to life—and he sets out to unravel this strange and convoluted story.
