The early 1950s. At a sanatorium near Kislovodsk, during a performance right on stage, the blind saxophonist Prokhor Glukhov dies. The operations department chief on vacation there, Major Pavel Zverev from Pskov, suspects it was murder. He takes charge of the local detectives and begins an investigation. It turns out Glukhov’s death was caused by a saxophone mouthpiece smeared with poison. The major studies Prokhor’s biography: a difficult childhood, war, involvement in the underground… Nothing suspicious. Who would want to kill a blind musician?
