In 1946, in the western part of liberated Latvia, a group of “forest brothers” operates, led by a former SS Sturmabteilung officer. These bandits do everything they can to harm Soviet power: they set villages on fire, kill civilians, and create an atmosphere of fear and chaos. To fight them, experienced operatives are sent: Major Klim Orlov and Senior Lieutenant Ilya Zhuravlev. The criminals respond to their arrival by burning the local executive committee building. The detectives immediately begin chasing the perpetrators, not suspecting that this fire is only a diversion. The band’s real target is a far more terrible crime.
This is an opportunity to immerse yourself in one of the striking periods of Soviet history—the postwar years. Real characters, genuine criminal events, and unexpected twists of the plot.
