In 1948, on the outskirts of Kazan, a murder and robbery of an elderly married couple took place. The house doors were not forced, which indicates the owners let the criminal in themselves—and paid for it with their lives. Major Vitaly Shelkunov, who heads the department fighting banditry, is perplexed: this is the third such crime in the last few weeks.
