In the early 1950s, in a sanatorium near Kislovodsk, blind saxophonist Prokhor Glukhov dies on stage. Major Pavel Zverev from Pskov, who is here resting, suspects it is murder and begins an investigation, leading the local police. It is established that the mouthpiece of the saxophone had been treated with poison. Studying Glukhov’s past—including his difficult childhood and his participation in the underground during the war, Zverev finds nothing suspicious.
So who killed the musician and why? A new crime soon occurs, only making the situation more complicated.
