In the near future, cryptomorphs appeared among us—creatures with dangerous paranormal abilities. Obeying a mysterious impulse, they now pose a deadly threat to the rest of humanity, which has formed an organization called BLOK—the Bureau for the Elimination of Dangerous Cryptomorphs. But are these creatures truly as dangerous as they seem? And what are they really after?

These questions are meant to be answered by Mark Veres and Kyra Koval—two BLOK agents who must work together, overcoming conflicting feelings. Before long, Mark and Kyra realize: each of them keeps secrets capable of ruining the other’s life.
