The Trainee

A few days remain before the next vacation for the trainee of the Space Courier Service, Nick Sobolev, when he receives an assignment to deliver valuable cargo to a research base operating in the far sector of the galaxy. There, under the strictest secrecy, Earth specialists are trying to break into an area of space encapsulated by someone—back when and by whom, nobody knows. For these purposes, the engineers create an ultra-modern shuttle, “Valkyrie”—and it is this shuttle that serves as the valuable cargo.

Without realizing it, Nick changes the course set in the onboard computer of the “Valkyrie” on his own—so he can return before his vacation starts. A small error leads to the fact that he ends up inside an unknown star system, cut off from the rest of the Universe by monstrously distorted space.

What awaits him ahead? Will he be able to overcome all the trials on the thorny path home?
