Dash to the Stars

A star-spanning battleship of a galactic empire falls out of another reality into the present day. There is no crew on board, and the ship’s artificial intelligence, after detecting the area around Earth, discovers that in this reality the Empire does not exist. Following the Main Directive, it decides to rebuild the Empire from scratch. At the same time, the imperatives built into it forbid disturbing the parent civilization—allowing it to work only with emigrants who must be delivered to the planet New Rome. Now the ship’s artificial intelligence needs to find a candidate for emperor on Earth and gather subjects for him.
