“The Renunciation” is the sixth novel of the “Moscow Sovereigns” cycle, describing the last unifying efforts of Moscow: the subordination of the Suzdal-Nizhny Novgorod and Tver principalities, their difficult renunciation of independence in the name of glorious Rus, and the boyhood years of the future victor of the Kulikovo Battle—the prince Dmitry Ivanovich Donskoy.
