A landing armada of seventeen ships rushes toward an enemy star system. A pilot on board one of them—Jack Stanton—is piloting a combat robot alongside a group of friend-pilots, several thousand infantrymen, and a couple of enemy spies. The enemy has its own problems: as a result of a coup in the Empire of cattingtings, an ancient race of grizzotts—uncompromising and aggressive fighters—has come to power. Time to take advantage of it and strike first—but the cattingting spies intend to sabotage the people’s plans.

Hastily assembled assault divisions are sent to intercept the landing. Jack and his comrades urgently take their places on the artillery decks. The enemy attack must be repelled at any cost, because in space there’s nowhere to retreat…
