“Lana of Gathol” is the tenth novel in the Barsoom series by Edgar Rice Burroughs. In it, John Carter comes to the aid of a warrior who fought against six. And for that, he is sentenced to death. The book consists of four separate novellas published in Amazing Stories during 1941. In 1948, they were issued as a single book with a brief foreword written from the perspective of John Carter’s nephew—Edgar Rice Burroughs—whom his famous uncle has once again come to visit. In the book edition, the novellas were printed with only minor changes intended to tie them into one continuous plot.
