Konstantin Zaytsev is a science-fiction writer and the author/co-author of several popular book series. One of his best-known projects is the “Book of Five Rings” series—an action fantasy in the “wuxia” setting, where magic meets Eastern martial arts. There are also elements of the currently fashionable “bōjā-anime” style, where the main intrigue is based on conflicts between aristocratic clans in a world of magic. “The Book of Five Rings” has been recognized both in Russia and abroad, having been translated into English. We present the audio format of the second novel of this cycle.
Yan Voronov is a champion in no-rules fighting. One day, his opponent lands a deadly blow—after which the hero is unexpectedly offered a deal. He must transfer the remaining strength for revenge to his friend Ignat, but in return the hero has to last three years in the body of another person—an Asian teenager named Wu Yan. The experience of a mature fighter, a young body, and the magic inherent to that world make Yan a unique warrior, but he has much to learn and understand. He will be helped by an inner voice that often intrudes into the hero’s thoughts and feelings, can reach the memory of his ancestors, and explains what’s happening much better than those around him.
In the second volume of the cycle, Wu Yan, having defeated a demon, goes to train at the Academy of the Lion. This place has become a hub of intrigue, secrets, and behind-the-scenes clan struggle, and the hero must find himself right in the center of this web of snakes. He will have to learn a lot, take risks with his own life again, and try to defeat himself, the circumstances, and—of course—his enemies. Also waiting for him is a meeting with a future ally—a beautiful and deadly one! Details are in the audiobook.
