Sooner or later this was bound to happen. I returned to my homeland, the capital of the Minsk principality. A few years ago I would have been very happy about that. But who was I back then? A penniless relative who couldn’t rise above the rank of Warrior and gave up his life as a pledge for a peaceful agreement between two warring clans. Only later I learned that I wasn’t needed by one set of relatives—and the other couldn’t do anything when I was sent to China. But now that I’ve returned, everything has changed. I have something to lose, and for each side of the family I’m a kind of asset.
Big money is big filth, and no one plans to consider my interests. I still don’t know how to fend off their grasping hands! But one thing I know for sure: if they’re so sure they’ll win easily over me, then they’re very, very wrong!
