Mr. Inventor

The end of the 19th century is a difficult time. Andrei Stepanov’s consciousness doesn’t inhabit the emperor, or the tsesarevich, or the grand duke, or even some minor count. Instead, it lands in an ordinary young man—one who isn’t even a nobleman, but a failed lawyer, and on top of that, from a merchant family.

The “inhabitant” isn’t special forces, not a sniper, and he doesn’t want to “write” songs about officers and Cuirassier Guards. His grandfather is a first-guild merchant, but he turned down everyone from his house—and now the time has come to find an approach to him. By profession, Andrei is a math programmer; besides, working at a pharmaceutical company, he picked up some basics in chemistry. He knows the history only in fragments, can’t remember exact dates—only the key events and the general course of history. And what is he supposed to do with these skills at the end of the 19th century? It’s offensive both for him and for the state.
