This ravine in the taiga—damn it—really turned out to be a portal! And it’s probably true that it will open again only in a hundred years… It’s pointless to bash your head against an invisible wall—you’ll have to adapt to the new realities. In themselves, they are unlikely to be any harsher than what’s familiar to a Russian person, but their morals are simpler here. It’s like the Wild West of the time of the conquest of America: bloodthirsty savages—"aborigines"— settlers ready to do anything to win a place in the sun for themselves, and bandits of all kinds… And two newcomers—one against the whole world.
