The air smells of pine needles, and around is a July taiga. I’m a hunter who knows it like the back of my hand, going after a boar. And then—bang, a shot, and darkness. I wake up, and I’m seventeen years old. And now my name is Max. And here I am, in a weak body of this sickly young man whom the locals avoid. On my hands are red tattoos of a beast-catcher. I have to catch my first pet, survive, and help my family. I need to get used to this crazy world—one where people hide behind shaky walls, fighting for survival, and the forests are full of magical creatures. I’ll learn to be a Beast-Catcher and use all my knowledge. With my experience and the “Beast Codex,” it won’t be hard. Because the forest is the same everywhere—it just needs to be read. And I’m best at that.
