The air smells of pine needles; around, the summer taiga stretches on. I’m a gamekeeper, well oriented in these places, and I go hunting for a wild boar. Suddenly a shot rings out—and everything plunges into darkness. I wake up in the body of a seventeen-year-old boy named Max. This is a weak, sickly body, and local residents avoid him. Red tattoos have appeared on my hands, symbols of a beast hunter. I have to catch my first magical creature, survive, and support my new family. I must get used to this amazing world, where people hide behind fragile walls in their attempt to survive, and the forests are full of magical beings. I intend to become a true Beast Hunter, using my skills and the “Beast Codex.” The forest is the same everywhere, and I can “read” it—something I’m best at.
