In the air there hangs a resinous scent of pine, and all around is July taiga. I’m a gamekeeper; I know these places by heart and I go out to hunt a boar. And then— a shot, a flash, and a fall into darkness. I come to myself and realize: I’m seventeen again. And now my name is Max.
I’m trapped in the frail body of a sickly young man whom everyone in the area avoids. And on my hands— red tattoos of a beast hunter.
I’m faced with the task of catching my first creature, holding out, and pulling my family out of trouble. I have to get used to the insane reality where people huddle behind flimsy walls, clinging to life, while magical creatures roam the forests.
I will become a Beast Hunter and put to use everything I know.
With my experience and the “Beast Codex,” I’ll manage. Because the forest speaks the same language everywhere— you just need to know how to read it. And I can read the forest better than most.
