We are presented with a modified world of the late 18th century. In this world there is the Russian Empire, but instead of the Bering Strait there is a strait of the same name, in the carriages there are mage-mechanical horses, the aristocrats possess magical talents, and in their serfdom there are orcs who obediently perform corvée labor. It is to such Russia that a mage-apprentice, Konstantin Urusov, travels from Paris to claim an inheritance and restart a career that has not quite gone as planned. Returning to historical roots proves far from easy, but the hero manages not only to overcome every obstacle, but also to secure a prestigious position in local society.
In the ninth book, Urusov will have to deal with a plague epidemic in Moscow, travel to Rome and stand up against the Inquisition, go in search of a runaway mummy—and that is far from all. Listen to the continuation of this captivating story in audio format!
