Uncle of the Most Honest Rules. Book 2

Uncle of the Most Honest Rules. Book 2

12 hrs. 22 min.
What we have here is a modified world of the late eighteenth century. On the Russian throne—still Empress Elizabeth Petrovna. In this world, instead of the Bering Strait, there is a named isthmus; carriages are pulled by magi-mechanical horses; aristocrats possess magical talents; and in their serfdom, there are orcs obediently working the corvée.

That’s the kind of Russia that a mage-nobody, Constantine Uruzov, travels from Paris to obtain an inheritance and restart a career that didn’t quite take off. Returning to historical roots turns out to be anything but easy. There are problems with the inheritance; to develop his magical gift, he’ll have to work hard; and it’s also easy enough to fall in one of the duels our hero is so "lucky" to encounter.

In the second book, Uruzov settles into Murom. Mysterious enemies have already pitted him against the local aristocracy, so it’s crucial to secure protection. The new connections the hero makes are sometimes strange—but at least better than having none at all. Because it’s unclear who among his circle is an enemy and who is a friend.
