Do What You Must

12 hrs. 55 min.
A distant future in which humanity has long mastered new planets and adapted them for life. Technologically, the inhabitants of the planets within the Consortium are the most advanced. So advanced that they learned to create an army of artificially grown soldier-replicants. They aren’t given names—only numbers. After all, weapons don’t have names. Replicants don’t fear death; for them, carrying out an order is more important than survival. They know nothing of ordinary life—training and combat are all that matter. And yet they are not robots: they have feelings and their own view of the world.

We’re heading for an intriguing finale to this long story. The main thing in war is to win at any cost. To achieve the goal—or at least try. As the ancients said:

“Do what must be done, and let what will be.”
