There are people who find problem after problem where it seems almost impossible. They get one chance in a hundred to end up in trouble. Usually such people are called losers. Or, more delicately, the unlucky.

Matvey’s grandmother, the hero of the book, called her grandson differently—Bedomyi (“Troublemaker”). One day, Matvey received a courier order to deliver food and went into a strange apartment, where the dying old woman “rewarded” him with a hist—an unusual gift. Now Matvey’s assistant is a devil named Grigory, and the hero learns about the existence of a world invisible to many people, where all sorts of evil spirits and other supernatural beings live. Those who can see this world are called “boundary-keepers” (rubezhniki).

In the third book, boundary-keeper Matvey is no longer a lone fighter: he is under the protection of the Voivode and serves him. Now other boundary-keepers also accept the hero into their circle. But Matvey’s life becomes no safer—even despite the bonus of promised fantastic longevity and almost eternal youth. The enemy may be much closer than it seems, and the actions of the hero, who tries to do the right thing, are appreciated by far from everyone. Details are in the audiobook.
