Vitano is a great city and the last stronghold of humanity. The city lives on the power of a guild of mages, by the efforts of the city council, and by the fortitude of the city walls that separate Vitano from the world of the Wasteland. Outside the city wall, there is no life. Vinni knows that as well as any other townsman.
But fate offers Vinni an unwelcome gift. By accident, the young man ends up beyond the city. The World of the Wasteland turns out to be nothing like what the authorities of Vitano had painted it as. The notions about how the world is arranged that were drilled into him from early childhood are a fabrication.
