The story of a thief known as Yurka Baron.
Anyone who watched the legendary TV series “Bandit Petersburg” will find it interesting that one of the key characters in the film—the old thief nicknamed Yurka Baron, brilliantly played by Kirill Lavrov—when he was young went through incredible trials of life, which ultimately predetermined his tragic ending. And it all began still in pre-war Leningrad, when teenager Yura was a pioneer, a boy from an educated family. And his fate could have turned out quite differently, if not for his mother’s godfather—a former personal chauffeur of Lenin, who once made the careless mistake of writing an openly rebellious manuscript of the sort that, in those times, was considered treasonous…
So: 1962. Baron managed not only to find his sister they had been separated from back in the Leningrad blockade winter, but also to find the woman he loved. It seemed like it was finally time to tie up with his criminal past and start life from scratch. But circumstances unfold so that Baron commits a new crime, unaware that it is a trap—skillfully set by officers of the Leningrad criminal investigation.
“Count Me In” is a new audio book by Andrey Konstantinov. Based on this novel, as well as on the novels “The Youth of Baron. Losses” and “The Youth of Baron. Gains,” the TV series “Expropriator” was made, premiering successfully on Channel One in August 2019.
