Alexander Ivanov returns to the Soviet Union after a long stay in the United States. In America, he seemed to have a fine, comfortable life—but Sasha returned. In the war, back in 1943, he promised his friend Pyotr Kurochkin that he would find him after the war.
When Alexander ends up in the USSR in 1948, he seriously considers staying here forever. But fate makes another turn. A meeting with a friend, prison, war with bandits, and then another escape back to distant America—only this time not alone. And there, again, prison, mafia squabbles, and gunfire.
Will the Soldier finally be able to find peace, settle down, and, along with his own life, ensure the lives of his loved ones?
