For Chiter, everything is excellent: both in aim and in Fortuna’s favor. He has every trait of a winner, and winners never miss. But his main goal is not the kind where everything is decided by a single lucky shot. It’s somewhere far to the west—and that’s bad, because it means he’ll have to cross borders between regions more than once: the most unpleasant locations of the Continent. Even experienced immunes there are nothing more than comic meat, and for a bold rookie, they can’t even be approached.
