Lord of Poisons

The “MediaBook” studio presents an audio book by modern popular Russian fantasy writer Andrey Smirnov, working in the dark fantasy genre, “The Lord of Poisons”—the second in the “The Age of Gods” series. In the fourth circle of Hell, at the edge of the world called Kogkhagidobon, above the Rotting Abyss stood the Castle Ghadabi. Built in ancient times, it survived a long period of decline and oblivion… The immortal sorcerer who disappeared centuries ago didn’t try to break the gates. He managed to temporarily disrupt the work of the spells that protected one of the seven main towers, and moved to its center—passing through the wall in an incorporeal form. The tower’s interior resembled a laboratory. In the upper part, from a dark spot that could very well be an entrance to some other world, a crimson liquid flowed. It fell into a wide metal funnel, ran down a silvery tube, was stirred in the next vessel, went through distillation and heating. The resulting vapors cooled, passed through another chain of transformations, and finally, as a noticeably lightened flow, were sent down through yet another silvery pipe to the deeper levels of the castle. Here were remnants of doors—once sealed by the tower’s owner and later broken by a stranger sorcerer; beyond the doors—a corridor, empty staircases, and halls.
