Prince of Lies

This book tells of ancient times, when the first civilization of Kelrion was drawing to its sunset. The power of the Sun Gods seemed unshakable; the Princes of Darkness had long ago been overthrown and imprisoned. The story begins almost routinely: Edric Mardelt, carrying out the task of an immortal sorcerer, sets off eastward across the desert to search for an ancient manuscript; moving toward him is a black mage, pursued by the authorities and by his own nightmarish memories, having lost his sanity in an underground city of demons. Two men, unaware that they are destined to meet and free the Father of Lies—the first of the nine overthrown Princes, whose return heralds the beginning of a great war between Light and Darkness.
