Many stories about the Secret Investigators of Eho were told; even more stories have become the common property of the author and the characters. Some cases, kept for a time under the label “Absolutely Secret,” the past of the Kettari Hunter, the recollections of employees of the Secret Investigation, and a great many other events—all these stories long waited for their hour.

It would have been possible to stay silent further, but the narrator doesn’t want these wonderful things he saw—whether in waking life or in a dream—to disappear forever, to dissolve into darkness under his closed covers.

So the old friends gather together on neutral ground, in the inn “Coffee Grounds,” located on the border between a newborn reality and human dreams—between what has come true and what has not. In short: on the boundary.
