Many stories about secret investigators from Eho have been told; even more stories have remained the shared property of the author and the characters. Some cases that had been resting under the label “Top Secret” for a while— the past of the Kettarian Hunter and his senior companions—remembering the employees of the Secret Investigation Office and countless other events—these stories had long been waiting for their turn. One could stay silent and further, but the narrator doesn’t want all these wonderful things he has seen—whether in waking life or in a dream, “at the border between light and shadow”—to disappear forever, dissolve in the darkness, under his closed eyelids.
