The main work of Helena Petrovna Blavatsky, the significance of which—as with all her heroic activities—has still not been fully understood by humanity. Originally, the book was published in two volumes in 1888; the third volume was published after the author’s death in 1897. The foundation of “The Secret Doctrine” consists of the stanzas translated from the arcane “Book of Dzyan,” along with the author’s commentaries and explanations. The book also examines in detail the fundamental symbolism used by the great religions and mythologies of the world. Volume one discusses the formation of the universe. Volume two considers the origin and evolution of humankind. The Russian translation was made by E. P. Blavatsky’s successor (E. I. Roerich). A shortened version in two volumes with commentary by A. V. Vladimirov.
