Helena Petrovna Blavatsky’s main work—whose significance, like all her heroic activity, has not yet been fully understood by humanity. (English: The Secret Doctrine, the Synthesis of Science, Religion and Philosophy.) Initially, the book was published in two volumes in 1888; the third volume was published after the writer’s death in 1897. The foundation of "The Secret Doctrine" consists of stanzas translated from the esoteric "Book of Dzyan," with the author’s comments and explanations. The book also discusses in detail the fundamental symbolism used by the great religions and mythologies of the world. Volume I deals with the formation of the universe. Volume II considers the origin and evolution of humankind. The Russian translation was made by E. I. Roerich.
An abridged version in 2 volumes with comments by A. V. Vladimirov.
