The epic novel “Strogovs” by the well-known writer and Siberian native Georgy Makeevich Markov can fully be called historical. In his work, the author, through the fate of the peasant family of the Strogovs, vividly and vividly depicts the life of Siberian Krai during major historical events— the Russo-Japanese War, the Revolution of 1905, the October Revolution of 1917, and the Civil War.
The novel’s main character Matvey Strogov goes through “fire, water, and copper pipes”—from a peaceful peasant beekeeper to the commander of a Red partisan detachment—proving to himself and others that a person must always remain a person and come out with honor from any life’s conflicts.
