The Mirror Detective's Apprentice

In 1893, in Kreshchensk, a former student Mitya Demidov begins working as an intern in the department of the Mirror Bureau, which keeps order and investigates cases connected with magic in a small town beyond the Urals. One day, Mitya learns from his beloved Varyonka that a cursed doll was planted on her friend. Afraid for Vary’s safety, he begins an investigation and soon comes to the trail of an old witch. However, that becomes only the beginning of a whole chain of magical incidents. Soon, Varyonka herself turns out to be a suspect in a murder. Convinced of her innocence, Mitya continues investigating, running into ghosts, Mirror Magicians’ intrigues, and betrayal among his own colleagues.
