A young police officer from Reykjavik, Ari Þór, arrives in a small town in the north of Iceland where nobody locks their doors—getting in is possible only through a narrow tunnel in the mountains. Loneliness, snow, and the darkness of an endless winter draw Ari Þór into the depths of nightmarish thoughts; memories of the past torment him and he aches for a girlfriend he left behind in Reykjavik. In this close-knit community of people who have known each other for a long time, he feels like a stranger. But when, in the snow, a half-naked bleeding woman is found and an elderly writer drops dead from the stairs in a local theatre, Ari Þór—who is conducting the investigation—ends up right in the middle of this community… and he can’t trust anyone. The past plays with the present, tension rises, and Ari Þór sinks deeper and deeper into his own darkness— blinded by the snow, under the gaze of many eyes.
