The novella “Can You Hear Singing?” is the second book about Anne Zoulten and a continuation of “The Clumsy Anne.” Now Anne is already a teenager, not a little girl who constantly needs defenders—now she returns the warmth and the kindness that were so generously given to her by her first Canadian teacher, her classmates in the class for children with low vision, and, of course, her father, Ernst Zoulten. The book raises serious issues of xenophobia, hatred toward those who speak another language, pray differently, wear unusual clothes… The book “Can You Hear Singing?” received a special award from the Canada Council for children’s literature.
