Anna is a clumsy, awkward child—a joke at home and at school. She hides her own special, deeply felt world of emotions and serious thoughts deep inside, from both her parents and her brothers and sisters. Her father has more than once called his youngest daughter “special.” And she truly is: her heart is full of love that no one seems to notice. One day, that love spills out: with her awkward—just as everyone is used to calling them—fingers, Anna weaves a wonderful basket as a gift for her parents. No, not for her parents— for Mom, because Dad already loves her, but in her eyes Mom’s love still needs to be earned. All this happens at Christmas, and Anna’s basket unexpectedly unites the whole family and opens the hearts of her loved ones toward each other.
